Balochistan govt bans hiring for underfunded universities

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Monday banned new recruitment in universities and formed a special committee to review the Public Sector Universities Act and compare it with other provinces.

The cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, unanimously agreed to establish the special committee to review the law governing Balochistan’s universities.

The committee comprises provincial ministers Mir Zahoor Buledi, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Bakht Khan Kakar and higher education department’s secretary.

The committee will make recommendations within seven days.

Speaking at the meeting, CM Bugti regretted the fact that universities had no funds for salaries, yet people were recruited and buildings were constructed.

He said the provincial government is trying to establish good governance and improve service delivery in the province.

The CM added that reforms are being introduced for the betterment of various departments.
