34 acres of forest land retrieved in Sialkot

LAHORE: The Forest Department has retrieved 34 acres from influential people in Mauza Thukkarkay, Sialkot.

A plantation of 4,500 trees was immediately undertaken on the reclaimed land.

In a statement, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said the operation to reclaim state land from illegal occupants is ongoing. The Forest Department presented a strong defense in court, resulting in a favourable judgment.

Ms Aurangzeb further explained that this initiative will help reduce smog and eventually transform the area into a beautiful and valuable forest. The Forest Department has also established a check post and an office on the site.

The forest team visited the reclaimed land, oversaw the plantation process, and recorded the area using GIS lab drones for precise measurement and monitoring.
