75 community teachers to teach coding, AI at primary level
ISLAMABAD: While it is a herculean task to hire regular teachers through Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), the ministry of education has decided to hire 75 community teachers in collaboration with technology service provider (TSP) to teach Coding and Artificial Indigence (AI) at primary level.
“We will be engaging a top national TSP through a competitive process to deploy highly trained coding and AI fellows in Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) schools at the primary level,” Secretary Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said on Saturday.
He said the initiative would be first of its nature in Pakistan and stressed that the children need to be allowed to enter into the world of technology at a younger age to expose them to 21stcentury requirements of Coding and AI.
Coding is defined as writing instructions for computers and other hardware. Coding enables machines to read and follow the instructions which are also called programmes because computer language is different from human language.
On the other hand AI is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines. While replying to a question, Mr Wani said that the process of hiring a TSP will be completed within eight weeks.
“It is unfortunate that our students don’t get the opportunity to learn Coding and AI at primary level. The decision will enable them to complete with the students across the globe,” he claimed.
