Shangla police set up checkpost in Bruj Banda tourist spot

SHANGLA: The Shangla police on Sunday inaugurated the first-ever checkpost at a tourist destination here in order to promote tourism in a safe, secure and peaceful atmosphere.

District police officer Imran Khan inaugurated the checkpost in Bruj Banda area of Kana tehsil.

Bruj Banda is one of the scenic and newly-discovered tourist hotspots in Shangla surrounded by lush green alpine forest and pastures.

Talking to mediapersons after inaugurating the checkpost, DPO Imran said that they set up the checkpost in collaboration with the district administration, and its solemn purpose was to promote tourism and ensure safe, secure environment to the tourists visiting the place.

“This checkpost is not limited to providing security only, as it will act as a help desk to provide the tourists with guidance so that they can make their visits enjoyable and memorable,” he said.

He added that Bruj Banda was located on the border with Kohistan’s Dubair and Swat’s Madyan aeras, hence it was essential to maintain peace in the tourist hotspot as it was becoming more popular with tourists.

DPO Imran urged the nature lovers to visit Shangla tourist places like Bruj Banda to find peace of mind and natural beauty.

MEDICAL CAMP: Over 2,000 patients were examined and provided with free medicines during a two-day medical camp held in the Rural Health Centre, Martung.

A statement issued by additional assistant commissioner, Puran, Mohammad Shad Safi on Sunday said the district administration in collaboration with the Aid International arranged the camp.

He said patients were also provided with free medicines as most of them came from the rural areas of Martung.

Meanwhile, body of a coal miner, who had died at a mine in Dara Adamkhel area of Kohat due to electrocution on Saturday evening, was brought to his was hometown in Dehrai area here on Sunday.

Residents said Gul Samar was later laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard after funeral prayers.
