KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday inaugurated the new Route 13 of the Peoples Bus Service (PBS) in the city from Hawkesbay to Tower.

Speaking to reporters, the minister stated that the Sindh government was taking steps to provide relief to the people in all sectors.

“As part of this effort, a new route is being inaugurated today,” he said, adding that the government aimed at providing air-conditioned buses to facilitate comfortable travel to people during heatwaves.

He said that along with inflation, the country faced many challenges, including ever increasing electricity prices and loadshedding.

“Although the policy maker at the federal level is the PML-N, but as Pakistanis, we all share responsibility; we are working for the people,” he added.

The senior minister said the Sindh government had taken steps to provide relief to the people in various sectors. “In the health sector, state-of-the-art hospitals have been established, which are providing better health facilities to the patients of the whole country,” he opined.

Mr Memon said that some people were spreading despair among the people. “There are rumours that something significant will happen in the country in the next 15 or 20 days, but don’t worry, nothing will happen,” he remarked and added that the masses, especially investors, needed not to worry; the government would continue to function.

He said: “We will not allow any conspiracy against the democratic process to succeed. Those hatching conspiracies want to harm Pakistan, but the nation will thwart these designs with unity,” he maintained and said Pakistan belonged to “all of us, and we must work together to fix everything”.

He said the federal and provincial governments were collaborating, and all ministers working hard because no one from outside would come to fix the situation.

In reply to a question, he said the Supreme Court judgement also granted relief that was not sought. “Read the Election Act which clearly states that which party is eligible to contest the election and which is not. As the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Pakistan (PTI) hid its foreign funding accounts and set buses on fire on Sharea Faisal, everyone can see the fate of the party,” he added.

Condemning the Frankfurt incident, Mr Memon said Pakistan had always done favour to Afghanistan. “The Afghan government should take action against those who desecrated the Pakistani flag in Frankfurt, and the Frankfurt administration should arrest and deport such individuals,” he demanded.
