Shaheens set for more action

LAHORE: Pakistan Shaheens will continue to stay in action following their ongoing two-match four-day series against Bangladesh ‘A’, hosting the side for two more red-ball games and three 50-over matches next month, the country’s cricket board announced on Tuesday.

The Shaheens will also play Sri Lanka ‘A’ in two four-dayers and three one-dayers at home in November, said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The series are in line with the PCB’s plan to create depth in Pakistan’s pool of players and to give the top performers of the national domestic circuit exposure at an international level.

Following the second four-dayer against Bangladesh ‘A’ in Darwin, Australia, which will conclude on July 29, Shaheens will face them in two four-dayers from August 10-13 and 17-20, with venues yet to be decided. The four-dayers will be followed by three 50-over matches on August 23, 25, and 27.

The four-dayers between the Shaheens and Sri Lanka ‘A’ will be played from November 11-14 and 18-21, while the 50-over matches will be held on November 25, 27, and 29. Venues will be announced in due course, said the PCB statement.

Separately, the Pakistan Emerging team will also defend their ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup title in October, while the Pakistan U-19 team will feature in an Under-19 50-over Tri-Nation Tournament and the ACC Asia Cup U-19 in November-December. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will announce details of the two tournaments in due course.
