Employer held for trying to rape tourist guide

MURREE: A female tourist guide survived a rape attempt allegedly by her employer in a hotel in Murree while police did not respond to her repeated calls.

According to the FIR, a student of a public university, a resident of Chakwal, had been serving as a tourist guide with an Islamabad-based private tourist company. She brought a group of tourists to Murree on Saturday.

The visitors were staying in a hotel when her employer told her that there was no room available in the hotel and a room had been arranged for her in another hotel. When she was leaving the hotel, the employer said he would also accompany her.

It said when she reached the hotel, her employer said he would also stay with her in the room. The suspect then locked the room from inside and attempted to rape her. However, she managed to lock herself in the washroom and repeatedly called police 15 at 3am on Sunday, but could not get any response.

She then contacted a friend who approached the management of the hotel who rescued the girl. The police finally reached the hotel at 8:15am.

The FIR was registered at the Sunny Bank police post and the suspect was arrested.

An official of the post said the police had reached the scene soon after receiving information. The suspect was produced in a local court on Monday which sent him on a two-day physical remand.

People of Murree urged Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to take notice of the incident.

“Luckily, she managed to contact her friend who managed to rescue her. But this incident raises several questions about the efficiency of the police,” said Wajid Ali, a resident of Murree.
