Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt notifies 25pc pay, 15pc pension increase

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday notified 25 per cent pay and 15pc pension raise to its serving and retired employees in line with the federal government’s decision.

Earlier, the KP government had preempted the federal government by presenting its budget ahead of the centre’s and announced a 10pc pay and pension raise to its current and retired employees.

A notification issued from the finance department stated that the government was pleased to sanction with effect from July 1 2024 and until further orders, ad-hoc relief allowance 2024, at the rate of 25pc on the running basic pay to the employees from BS-1 to 16 and 20pc on running basic pay to the officers from BS-17 to 22 of provincial government, including contingent paid staff and contract employees hired against civil posts.

However, it said the amount would be subject to income and would not be treated as part of emoluments for the purpose of calculation of pension or gratuity and recovery of house rent.

The notification stated that the ad-hoc relief allowance 2024 would be accommodated from within its budgetary allocation for the current fiscal year, and no supplementary grants would be given on this account.

Through another notification, the finance department sanctioned an increase of 15 pc of net pension with effect from July 1 2024, to all pensioners of the provincial government.

The notification said that the 15pc increase in pension would also be admissible to the pensioners who would retire on July 1 2024.

Besides, it said the increase would be admissible on family pensions granted under pension-cum gratuity scheme 1954 and the liberalised pension rules 1977 on pensions sanctioned under Provincial Civil Servants Pension Rules.
