CM inaugurates medicines warehouse project

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday inaugurated the “biggest” medicines warehouse project.

She visited the Central Warehouse at Maraka, Lahore, set up by the health department and inaugurated provision of free medicines in various districts.

She directed to functionalise medicine warehouses in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan at the earliest. Nine medicine warehouses have become formally functional for the provision of medicines across the province in which there will be a capacity to store huge quantities of drugs and equipment.

She also inspected the furniture, medical equipment and other goods to be provided to the hospitals. She checked expiry of the medicines being stored in the warehouse and standard temperature system.

Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan apprised her of the medicines stored at a standard temperature that could be transported from the latest warehouses.

He said standard furniture, latest medical equipment, medicine trollies, disposable bed sheets and other goods would be provided to various district hospitals from the warehouses across the province.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Ambassador Alfred Grannas called on the chief minister and discussed with her bilateral relations, business, trade and technical education ties.

She also reviewed possibilities of further cooperation in various sectors like health, education, renewable energy, vocational training and information technology in the meeting. She commended the prompt response of the German authorities against the miscreants who attacked the Pakistani embassy in Germany.

“It is hoped that the people involved in the incident will be brought to justice and such incidents will not happen in the future,” she said.
