Traders oppose ‘illegal’ construction of shops

BAJAUR: The representatives of trade association of Khar Bazaar have expressed their grave concern over unauthorised construction of shops in the bazaar and warned to observe a shutter-down strike if the move was not stopped immediately.

They held a meeting at the office of Khar Tehsil council chairman Haji Said Badshah here the other day which was attended by the representatives of Khar trade association, Bajaur Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Haji Lali Shah, several social activists and others.

The participants pointed out that a group of influential people, having links with land mafia, had planned to construct shops in the Shingas market which they said was totally illegal and unjustified.

They observed that the construction of shops on the market was a matter of serious concern for the business community of Khar bazaar, as it would deprive the busiest trade centre of the only parking lot.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, Haji Lali Shah and others said that participants strongly condemned the move and termed it totally unacceptable.

They said that the meeting demanded of the district administration and Khar Tehsil municipal administration to immediately stop the construction of shops.

GAMES ORGANISED: Frontier Corps (FC) North arranged competitions of various games among local youth in Nawagai in Bajaur district, said a statement issued here.

It said scores of residents, mostly youth, participated in these games which included volleyball, cricket and tug-of-war.
