STATE LIFE ANOMALY

STATE LIFE ANOMALY: My father holds a policy with the State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC), a state-owned entity, and his monthly premiums used to be deducted from his salary during his employment with a government department. After he retired, we visited the SLIC office in Multan to pay the premium over the counter. Unfortunately, we were informed that 39 premium payments were still pending. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that these premiums had been held in a suspense account for unknown reasons. SLIC’s operational inefficiencies as well as the discourteous behaviour of its employees towards customers have become a nuisance. Consequently, many people prefer private insurance companies. The relevant authorities should streamline the system.

RULE OF LAW: Any attempt from anyone to destabilise the nation and spread anarchy should not be tolerated. The public must discern who truly acts in the country’s best interest, and who is seeking to undermine national stability for personal gains. Safeguarding Pakistan’s future means ensuring that no one is allowed to jeopardise it for personal or political gains. It is essential to critically examine the role and authority of all constitutional bodies. We need comprehensive reforms and vigilant oversight to maintain stability. Apart from this, as the country navigates these uncertain times, it is essential to prioritise national unity, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively towards a stable, brighter and prosperous future for all of us.

COUNTING CHICKENS: Following the decision by the Supreme Court in a case related to reserved seats in the National Assembly, opposition leaders have overzealously started claiming of being the largest party in parliament and their plan to bring a no-confidence motion against the government. They would be well-advised to avoid the temptation to count their chickens before they hatch.
