PTI launches plantation drive in Clifton

KARACHI: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday launched a plantation campaign in Karachi initially with a plan to create an “urban forest” in Clifton.

“Today, we planted 3,000 saplings here in Clifton near Hyperstar Park,” said PTI-Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh.

He emphasised the “party’s commitment” to mitigating heat through nationwide tree plantation and stressed the urgent need to combat global warming in collaboration with the public.

He also highlighted the alarming death toll in Karachi due to extreme heat, questioning the government’s inaction.

He criticised the destruction of large trees in areas like near FTC Flyover, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and blamed the Sindh government’s policies for turning the city into a concrete jungle.
