Mugginess persists despite rain

LAHORE: The light rain in some areas of the city on Monday failed to bring any considerable relief from the mugginess.

The rain was reported in city areas, including Jail Road, Canal Road, Garhi Shahu, Abbott Road, and Lakshmi Chowk.The Meteorological Department has predicted intermittent rain throughout the day on Tuesday (today).

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) forecast rain across Punjab until July 31.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, monsoon rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Gujrat divisions.

An alert has been issued to the concerned administrations in the light of the weather situation.

Meanwhile, as per the PDMA, the water flow in all rivers and streams of Punjab remained normal.

The water level in Mangla Dam was at 58pc, while in Tarbela it was 69pc. The water levels in Indian dams on the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers are up to 39pc.

The monsoon rains are expected to continue till July 31, with more rainfall likely in most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia says all necessary arrangements have been made to address any potential flood risks in vulnerable districts.

He says the central control room and the district emergency operation centers are monitoring the situation around the clock.

He urged the people to take precautionary measures during the rainy season.
