Boulder blocks Lawrence College Road

MURREE: The Lawrence College Road was blocked by a huge boulder, disturbing traffic flow for around one hour on Monday.

However, it was cleared by the highway mechanical department and city traffic police.

A boulder came rolling down from the forest side near Blue Pine Hotel due to rain. The highway department had to employ heavy machinery to remove part of it to clear the road for light vehicles.

The Lawrence College Road is a bypass road, which starts from Jikka Gali and after bypassing Murree links Pindi-Murree Road in Bansragali area.

A government official said: “The road was cleared within one hour, but a huge rock was still lying on one side of the road. The highway department will look into ways to remove it. It might use light blasting,” he said.

“This road is mainly used by light traffic as heavy vehicles normally ply on the main road,” he said, adding that the area fell in the forest land where there were no houses.
