Youth killed, uncle injured over cricket match row
SAHIWAL: A youth was shot dead and his uncle critically injured following a dispute with three fellow cricket players at village 27/SP, Tehsil Pakpattan.
The conflict began with a quarrel during a cricket match between Asad and Liaquat. Local players tried to mediate but the issue remained unresolved.
On Wednesday morning, Aqeel, Usman and Liaquat armed with pistols, arrived on a motorcycle as Asad was going into village street.
They opened fire, hitting Asad in the head twice. Asad’s father and uncle, Amjad, rushed to his help upon hearing the shots. Amjad was also shot by Liaquat in his attempt to save Asad.
Eyewitnesses said Asad died on the spot while the assailants fled. The police shifted Asad’s body for an autopsy and conducted a forensic analysis of the crime scene.
Chak Badian Police registered a case against Aqeel alias Aqeeli, Usman Ghani, and Liaquat Ali, residents of Chak Sohail under sections 302 and 32 of the Pakistan Penal Code, based on a complaint filed by Asad’s father, Muhammad Abbas.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Walayat stated that police are conducting raids to arrest the three suspects.
