Karachi receives light to moderate showers
KARACHI: Light to moderate showers continued intermittently in the metropolis on Friday, as the Met Office forecast more rain for Saturday (today).
The maximum rainfall, 31.3mm, was recorded in Keamari.
After intermittent showers, the city weather turned pleasant with maximum temperature recorded was 31.1 degree centigrade with 79 per cent humidity.
The rain led to traffic jams on many arteries, including University Road where construction for Red Line is underway, due to accumulation of rainwater.
Chief Meteorologist Dr Sardar Sarfaraz said that strong winds and clouds led to the fresh spell and the trend was likely to continue on Saturday.
However, he ruled out chances of heavy rainfall. “A new system is likely to enter rural Sindh on Saturday and from Sunday it can also affect parts of Karachi. Then the next two days, we may witness moderate to heavy rainfall under this system,” he said.
