Pakistan make Asian U-18 volleyball semis
LAHORE: Pakistan’s unbeaten streak in the Asian U-18 Volleyball Championship was broken by Japan in Manama, Bahrain on Friday.
The result, however, couldn’t stop Pakistan from sealing a spot in the semi-finals.
Following their wins against India, South Korea, Kuwait and Taiwan, Pakistan received a 3-1 thrashing by Japan, who were coming into the match at the back of their victory over Taiwan, and also confirmed their place in the semis.
While Japan, who undid Pakistan with a scores reading 22-25,28-26,25-18, 25-15, have set their semi-final daye with Iran, the Pakistani outfit is set to face China for a place in the final on Saturday.
The Pakistan Volleyball Federation praised the side’s performance in the tournament.
“Key players such as Muhtat Ali Shah, Abubaker, Mohammad Yahya, and Mohammad Anas have been instrumental in the team’s journey, showcasing exceptional play and coordination on the court,” said a PVF press release. “Their efforts, along with the guidance of the coaching staff, have brought pride to Pakistan’s volleyball community.”
