‘Hamas will not abandon jihad’

PESHAWAR, March 26: Hamas leader and former Imam of Al Quds Mosque Shaikh Mohammad Mehmood Al Siyam has said Hamas will not abandon the path of jihad despite its sweeping victory in the Palestinian general elections. “Hamas cannot think of abandoning jihad against the Jewish occupation forces,” he said.

“We will never let the Jews rule Palestinian territories,” the Hamas leader said while speaking at the concluding session of the Jamaat-i-Islami’s grand assembly at the Wapda Colony near here on Saturday night.

Member of Egypt’s parliament and leader of the Ikhwanul Muslimeen Shaikh Abdul Maqsood Askari and member of Majlis Shura National Conference of the ruling party in Sudan Shaikh Abdur Rahim Ali also spoke.

The Hamas leader said: “We will never stop resisting Israeli forces’ aggression against innocent Palestinians. Our jihad will continue until Israeli forces are evicted from the occupied territories.”

He termed Hamas’ electoral victory a triumph for the entire Muslim Ummah and said that anti-Muslim elements were conspiring to stop Hamas from forming a government.

“Whoever attempts to keep Hamas away from power will have to face the wrath of Palestinians and everyone else supporting the Palestinians’ struggle for self determination,” Al Siyam said.

Shaikh Abdur Rahim Ali said that the people of Sudan viewed Pakistan with hope as they believed Pakistan could pull the Ummah out of the mess.

He said that the people of Sudan viewed America as the enemy of the Ummah, adding that the US wanted to capture all Muslim countries one by one and establish its own rule over them.

“People in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Sudan are facing the same enemy, who wants to enslave Muslims,” Shaikh Abdur Rahim said.
