Four killed in Haripur, Lakki incidents

HARIPUR/LAKKI MARWAT: Four persons, including an elderly woman and her son, were killed in separate incidents, the police said on Monday.

Family sources and the police said sons of late Mohammad Akram Turk of Muslimabad village of Haripur’s Khanpur tehsil had some undisclosed dispute among them. They said the family gathered on the occasion of the death anniversary of their father on Sunday evening, where the brothers engaged in an argument while trying to resolve the dispute.

The police said one of them, later identified as Abdul Sattar, took out a pistol and threatened to kill his brothers to put an end to the family dispute.

However, they said some family members attempted to snatch the pistol from him, but it allegedly went off accidentally, and a bullet hit his mother, Farooq Jan, 70, who died instantly. The police and the family members said the man also shot himself in the chest with the same pistol.

The mother and the son were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Khanpur, whose doctors pronounced them as brought dead.

In Lakki Marwat, two people were shot dead and another was injured over a petty dispute in Tarikhel area on Monday.

Police said the double murder occurred near Nara Bridge on Tarikhel-Tajori Road. They said the victims were attacked by a rival when they were going to their new house. Sher Nawaz, 48, told police Obaidur Rehman, Danyal and Shamsher were going to their new house on a motorcycle when their rival, Akhtar Jan opened fire, killing Obaid on the spot and injuring Danyal and Shamsher.

The complainant said the body and the injured were shifted to a hospital in Tajori town, where Danyal also died during treatment. The police launched an investigation after registering a case.
