Roof collapse leaves three dead

NAROWAL: The roof of an animal mansion collapsed in Sialkot on Monday, resulting in the deaths of three people in village on Benan Aminabad Road, Daska.

With the assistance of local residents, rescuers retrieved 32-year-old Muhammad Bilal, 40-year-old Muhammad Saeed and 35-year-old Ali Sher. They were found deceased at the site. Bilal and Saeed were from Benan, while Ali was a resident of Sahiwal.

The three people were asleep in the animal mansion when the roof suddenly gave way.

The Daska Saddar police handed over the bodies to their respective families.

ENCOUNTER: An alleged dacoit was killed during an encounter between police and three armed suspects, at Mianwali Bangla in Sialkot district, while his two accomplices manged to escape.

According to the spokesman for Sialkot district police, Satrah Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Owais Riaz, along with his team, was informed by control room that three unknown dacoits have snatched cash and motorcycle from a man at Manjhipur Bridge.

Acting on the information, District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Hassan Iqbal also ordered picketing of all the entrance and exit routes of the district.

Meanwhile, the three suspects allegedly opened fire at Satrah police picket near Sian Jhal and escaped towards Mianwali Bangla, where the both sides exchanged fire.

He said the police also made repeated announcements, asking the suspects to surrender, however the latter kept firing, and damaged the police van.

After the firing stopped, the police conducted a search operation, finding body of one of the suspects, who was identified as Tanveer, a resident of Tarsika. The police claimed he was killed in the firing by his own companions.

Police also found a motorcycle without number plate and a pistol, near the body.

The police spokesperson claimed Tanveer was wanted in robbery, murder, attempted murder and other cases.

He said that the police teams were conducting raids to arrest the two fleeing suspects.
