Distribution of tablets in educational institutions hailed

QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Education Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani has said the distribution of digital tablets in province’s educational institutions is a commendable initiative in today’s digital age.

She highlighted the significant role of the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) in the development of Balochistan, noting its valuable contributions across various sectors of life.

She said this while speaking at a ceremony held at the BRSP office here on Friday, where 2,079 digital tablets were distributed among teachers in government schools, provincial education department institutions, PPIU, and project staff under the SCW (Social and Community Welfare) programme, with support from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Rural Support Programme Network (RSPN).

The BRSP is implementing the ECW (Education for Children and Women) programme in Loralai, Panjgur, and Kohlu districts. The primary objective of this programme is to restore and provide educational facilities to over 42,000 local and Afghan refugee children in these districts, including teacher training and various vocational training programmes for students.

BRSP CEO Tahir Rashid highlighted the programme’s projects, emphasising the need for improvements in education and health sectors. He said the BRSP is working in collaboration with the Balochistan government and is committed to working alongside government institutions to eradicate backwardness in the province.
