Pindi division committed to WHO’s anti-polio targets

RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of Rawalpindi division are bound to implement the policy of the World Health Organisation (WHO) regarding anti-polio campaigns and ensure that targets are met in each polio immunisation campaign, according to Commissioner Aamir Khattak. He made this statement during a meeting with the WHO representative at his office on Thursday.

National Team Leader of WHO Dr. Khan Zainul Abedin, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, Deputy Commissioners of Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Murree participated in the meeting. Area Coordinator WHO Dr. Shamaila Akbar, District Health Authority officials and other relevant officials were also present.

Mr Khattak emphasised the divisional administration’s commitment to making the region polio-free, instructing all deputy commissioners to prioritise polio eradication and personally review the campaign.
