Over 35 education dept officials suspended for skipping duty in Kohat

KOHAT: Kohat division commissioner Moatasim Billah suspended over 35 officials of the education department, two women doctors of Lachi Tehsil Hospital and a supervisor of Water and Sanitation Services Company for skipping duty.

He along with Kohat deputy commissioner Abdul Kalam paid surprise visits to hospitals and boys and girls schools and checked the employees’ attendance registers and tidiness of offices, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

The commissioner also ordered a departmental inquiry against the delinquent officials of the health and education departments.

He also forwarded the list of such officials to the accounts department for making deductions from their salaries.

Mr Billah also suspended the principal and vice-principal of government higher secondary school, Togh Bala, for not maintaining cleanliness at the institution.

He suspended two women doctors of Lachi Tehsil Hospital, and a technician of the rural health centre, Gumbat, for skipping duty.

He also suspended the WSSC’s supervisor for skipping duty.

The commissioner also ordered a six-day cleanliness drive in public parks, bazaars, bus stands and government offices. He also ordered cleaning of streams going through the populated areas and roadside drains.

KILLED: A man was killed and two others were injured when a motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a truck on the Indus Highway here the other day.

The deceased was identified as Wahid. The injured were stated to be his brother, Mohammad Naveed and his friend, Kameen Khan.

The truck driver’s helper was also wounded in the accident, whose name couldn’t be ascertained.

The deceased and the injured persons were shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital.

The Riaz Mohammad Shaheed police station registered an FIR against the truck driver and impounded the vehicle.

SUSPENDED: Deputy commissioner Abdul Kalam suspended four officials on French leave during a surprise visit to the Service Delivery Centre the other day.

He expressed anger over the poor service delivery against the timelines given to the people, and ordered a departmental inquiry against the negligent officials.

The deputy commissioner ordered the staff to address the problems of people without delay. He made it clear that strict disciplinary action would be taken against the staff guilty of absenteeism and negligence.
