IHC seeks govt input on net slowdown case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the secretaries of the cabinet and interior and human rights divisions, as well as the PTA, in a petition filed by journalist Hamid Mir against slowing down the internet.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq directed the divisions to depute a senior official well versed with the issue to assist the court.

Justice Farooq remarked that he too had noticed a slowdown in internet speeds and said that the relevant stakeholders need required to be heard in order to ascertain the problem. He subsequently issued notices to the respondents and adjourned the hearing until Aug 25.
