Moot on food, applied sciences concludes

PESHAWAR: A three-day international conference on food and applied sciences brought together scientists, experts, foreign researchers and innovators to raise awareness about food security.

The event was jointly organised by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar and the Evaluation Department at Nathiagali in Abbottabad, said a statement issued here on Thursday.

The conference was attended by the vice chancellors of several national universities including Multan University, Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Agriculture University DI Khan, University of Mianwali, Fatima Jinnah University Rawalpindi and others.

The statement said that representatives from Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America and Collegium Medicumof the Mazovian University in Pock Poland, chief commissioner KP Information Commission and other senior officials also participated in the conference.

Addressing the participants, the speakers highlighted the importance of educational reforms and better educational standards for promoting high-quality education, research and innovation.

They also spoke on the role of the university in promoting employment and mutual partnership with China in freelance courses and educational projects.

The outstanding performance of the Okara University was also hailed for its key role and research in genetics and securing a Presidential Award.

The speakers spoke at length on ensuring food safety and security, and discussed effective and modern methods for developing new food products, enhancing its standards and addressing nutrition.

The conference covered a wide range of topics, reflecting the intersection of food sciences, applied sciences, technology and practical application, including innovations in food processing and preservation, sustainable food systems, nutritional science and health, food quality and safety, food biotechnology, consumer trends and behaviors, climate change and food security.

A total of 96 researchers presented their research papers during the conference. In the closing ceremony, certificates and awards were distributed among the participants, the statement concluded.
