Senior Levies officer sacked after Panjgur DC’s martyrdom
QUETTA: The Kalat deputy commissioner has sacked another senior Levies officer, Resaldar Abdul Khaliq, from service with immediate effect due to negligence in performing official duties.
This negligence reportedly resulted in the killing of Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Zahir Hussain Baloch, on August 12 in Mastung district.
Four other Levies officials, including SHO of Levies Thana Khadkocha Owais Khan, were earlier suspended on the same charges two days ago.
DC Baloch was travelling to Quetta with Panjgur Municipal Committee Chairman Abdul Malik Baloch and others when they came under attack in the Khadkocha area, about 20km from Mastung town. Both men suffered serious injuries and were shifted to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital in Mastung, where the DC died during treatment.
Officials stated that Levies personnel were late in responding to the incident, which delayed the shifting of the injured deputy commissioner and the municipal committee chairman to hospital.
An inquiry committee formed by the Levies director general held the senior officer responsible for the negligence.
Based on the committee’s recommendation, Kalat DC Bilal Sher took action and terminated Resaldar Khaliq from service.
