Utility stores employees protest closure plan

BAHAWALPUR: A large number of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) employees protested on Saturday against the government’s decision to wind up the stores across the country.

The protesters held a rally in front of the press club and at Islamia University Chowk.

Carrying banners and chanting slogans against the government policy to close the stores, the demonstrators expressed their anger and frustration. The protest was led by Regional Manager Chaudhry Yamin, Area Manager Asif Gill amd Media Coordinator Safdar Khursheed.

They called on the government to reverse the decision to shut down the corporation’s network of 4,200 stores, which supports the livelihoods of 15,000 workers nationwide.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of USC employees staged a protest demonstration in Toba Tek Singh, opposing the federal government’s proposal to close all utility stores across the country.

The protesters carried placards demanding the withdrawal of the proposal, warning that thousands of employees would be rendered jobless if the stores were shut down.
