From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1974: Fifty Years Ago: Dam is safe
TARBELA: “The main Tarbela Dam is safe despite damage to tunnels”, WAPDA consultants and technical advisers stated at a meeting here this evening [Aug 24]. Meanwhile, the four tunnels were discharging 3,83,000 cusecs of water today and the reservoir’s level is falling at a rate of ten feet per day. This release of water does not exceed normal flow of water down the river during summer flood season. ... The consultants felt confident of their ability to lower the level of reservoir safely. — News agencies
