Academic disparity

THERE is a stark difference between public and private schools. The latter have better infrastructure, a more distinguished faculty, and a wider range of events and activities that help groom their students for success. In contrast, the former struggle to provide even the basics to their students due to their limited resources and poor management.

Besides, public schools have outdated textbooks, containing information that fails to reflect current trends and adva- ncement in the field. Private schools have access to advanced technology as well as resources that public schools can only dream of.

No doubt, the result of these differences is a significant gap in the quality of education. As it has been observed, many students from public schools struggle to compete with their counterparts, esp- ecially in competitive exams. Studying abroad is another area where private school students have an advantage due to their strong educational background as well as communication skills.

There is a need to promote equality in education by introducing better courses in public schools, improving infrastructure, and providing quality education to the students free of cost. Moreover, making English the medium of instruction would also help level the playing field.

Additionally, we need to recognise the value of education in promoting social mobility. Education has the power to break cycles of poverty and inequality, but only if it is accessible to all. We need to invest in our public schools and provide them with adequate resources they need to produce confident and successful individuals.
