Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt set to reshuffle cabinet members

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday moved a summary to the governor to seek his approval for reshuffling the cabinet members.

The summary, according to official sources, has reached the Governor’s House and will be notified after his approval. They said some new faces would be brought in, while a few others would be sacked.

Officials said the provincial government had decided to change the portfolio of the minister for health Qasim Ali Shah, who was likely to be assigned to the Ministry of Social Welfare.

They said the government also decided to bring new faces, mostly young lawmakers, to the cabinet.

“Ehtisham Ali is likely to serve as the chief minister’s adviser on health, Pir Musawir as special assistant on climate change, Mohammad Sohail Afridi as special assistant on communication and works and Nek Mohammad Khan as the chief minister’s special assistant on rescue and relief,” the official sources said.

A senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader said reshuffling cabinet members was a routine matter, but some people wanted to make a controversy out of it. “This is the team leader’s [the chief minister] prerogative. He will assign duties to whoever he wants fit for his or her job,” the PTI leader said.

He also said even the PTI founder and incarcerated leader Imran Khan wanted new faces to be introduced in the cabinet. “Khan also wants youngsters and new faces in the cabinet so they could be trained,” he said.
