Solidarity is the key

BALOCHISTAN is Pakistan’s largest and the most resource-rich province, but has been in turmoil for decades. The recent attacks, the responsibility of which has been claimed by a banned terrorist group, have caused the loss of many innocent lives and the martyrdom of security personnel. These violent acts have reignited the long-standing unrest in Balochistan, where terrorists are once again trying to regain control, posing a serious threat to the country’s security.

According to official reports, security forces have courageously responded, eliminating over 20 terrorists in intense gunfights. However, the cruel tactics of the terrorists to target innocent civilians, attacking public places, and killing people based on their ethnicity highlight their ruthless intent to destabilise life in the province and to challenge the state.

In these difficult times, it is our national duty to stand together with our security forces, providing them with unwavering support and boosting their confidence as they fight against terrorism. The struggle against militancy in Balochistan is not just a provincial matter; it is the entire nation’s safety that is at stake.

Balochistan’s strategic importance has grown significantly with the start of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key project for Pakistan’s economic future. The recent attacks may well be a part of some plan by hostile foreign agencies, aimed at disrupting Pakistan’s growing partnership with China and slowing down development in the region. As we face this renewed insurgency, it is crucial to understand that unrest in Balochistan is a deliberate attempt to derail Pakistan’s progress and weaken its international relationships.

The federal government must take a strong action to dismantle all terrorist networks, and ensure the safety and prosperity of the people of Balochistan.
