S&GAD needs vehicles for parliamentary secretaries

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday appointed four more parliamentary secretaries taking the tally to 29, creating an issue for the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) with regard to provision of vehicles and drivers to the new appointees.

The chief minister has appointed parliamentary secretaries and assigned them different departments.

As per the Punjab law and parliamentary affairs department’s notificaion, the new appointees include Muhammad Fayyaz (irrigation), Kanwal Pervez Chaudhry (environment protection and climate change), Rana Muhammad Saleem (C&W) and Chaudhry Naeem Ejaz (MPDD).

Following the new appointments, the S&GAD’s transport wing is finding it hard to arrange so many spare vehicles and drivers for the parliamentary secretaries.

A source in the department says that almost all administrative secretaries have more than one or two vehicles at their disposal, and they also get luxury vehicles from different autonomous bodies falling under their departments.

The source says the transport wing is now identifying such vehicles being used by secretaries to withdraw and hand these over to the new parliamentary secretaries.
