Couple stabbed to death in Pindigheb

TAXILA: A couple were found dead in their house in Dhoke Ararzi in the Pindigheb police station limits in the early hours of Friday, police and hospital sources said.

The couple, who were in their 50s, were sleeping in their house when unknown assailants scaled the wall and stabbed them to death.

On Friday, when their relatives came to their house to see them, they found the couple in a pool of blood. They then informed the police who shifted the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy after collecting evidence from the crime scene.

Police sources said it was not a case of any robbery as nothing precious was found missing from the house. Pindigheb police have registered a double murder case against the unknown assailants and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, police on Friday busted a motorcycle-lifting gang and arrested two of its members.

According to the police spokesman, acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the gang’s den and arrested two suspects. Police also recovered 10 motorcycles from their possession.

The spokesman further said during preliminary interrogation, the gang members confessed to having stolen motorcycles from residential and commercial areas of the city.

On the other hand, a man was robbed of his car and cash amounting to Rs2 million in the D-18 sector in the limits of Taxila police station on Friday.

Abdul Razzaq told police that he was going to his house after taking cash from his office when four masked men intercepted his car. They then snatched his vehicle and cash and fled away.

Moreover, four armed bandits snatched an official motorcycle, mobile phone and cash from two security guards of a private housing society in the limits of the same police station.

Mohsin Baig reported to police that he along with another security guard was patrolling Faisal Hills Housing Society when four armed men riding on two motorcycles intercepted them and snatched their motorcycle, mobile phone and cash.

Separately, burglars broke into the house of Qamar Rana and took away gold ornaments worth Rs1.5 million and other valuables. In another incident, two robbers snatched a motorcycle from Asad on Sabri Street in the limits of Wah Saddar police station and fled away.
