Two labourers killed, 11 injured in truck-trolley collision

TOBA TEK SINGH: Two labourers died and nine others were critically injured in a head-on collision between a mini truck and a wood-laden tractor-trolley near Thikriwala on Jhang Road, Faisalabad, on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 said the victims were travelling from Bhawana (Chiniot) and Painsara Adda to Faisalabad’s fruit and vegetable market for work.

The accident was attributed to the mini truck driver’s speeding.

The deceased were identified as Mustafa, 45, of Chak 73-JB, and Riaz, 40, of Adda Painsara.

The nine injured people were rushed to the Allied Hospital and were identified as Imtiaz, Riasat, Mullan, Hafeez, Sajjad, Bilal, Raza, Nawaz, and Shafiq.

CASE: Zaman Amjad, a grade 4 employee (baildar) of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), was terminated from service on Saturday for allegedly misappropriating Rs2.5 million of official funds.

An official stated that Amjad had failed to deposit the property transfer fees collected from citizens by the FDA staff into the bank.

After the charges were proven in an inquiry, Amjad disappeared from duty.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment will pursue a case against him, and the FDA will seek police assistance to recover the misappropriated funds.

KILLED: A man murdered his wife over a domestic dispute in the Ghausia Park locality of Dijkot, Faisalabad, on Saturday.

According to the police, Muhammad Suleman and his wife Ammara Bibi had an argument that escalated, leading to Suleman shooting her. Ammara died instantly from her injuries. Police are conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

BODY: The body of Umar Jamal was found on the bank of a minor canal near the district jail on Toba-Shorkot Cantonment Road on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the deceased was of Lahore.

It is suspected that he was tortured to death before his body was dumped at the location.

The body was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for an autopsy.
