Newborn’s body found in garbage dump

TAXILA: The body of a newborn baby was recovered from a garbage dump adjacent to a playground in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police station in the early hours of Saturday.

According to police, a scavenger spotted the body of the newborn wrapped in a plastic sheet and informed the locals of the area. Subsequently, the police were called who shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila for medico-legal formalities. Police investigators believe that the baby had been dumped at the site a few hours after her birth. A case has been registered against the unknown suspect by Wah Cantonment police.

Meanwhile, two teenagers were abducted in different incidents in the limits of Wah Cantonment police station on Saturday.

In the first incident, Rizwana reported to police that her 15 years old son was kidnapped by unknown persons while he was going to his school. Separately, Raheem Shah told police that his daughter, 16, was abducted by unknown persons. Respective police registered two separate cases and launched a hunt to recover the abducted persons.

Man arrested for killing wife

Police on Saturday arrested a suspect who allegedly beat his wife to death and later buried her in a deserted place.

According to the police spokesperson, Mohammad Nadeem killed his wife and later secretly performed her burial. He attributed her death to a road accident in Thatta Khalil area in the limits of Taxila police station.

Later he went underground on August 26. Police raided his hideout and arrested him on Saturday.
