Woman locked up, tortured by ex-husband rescued

BAHAWALPUR: Kahrorepucca Saddar police on Sunday claimed to have recovered a mother of five subjected to illegal confinement and torture by her former husband and his two accomplices, including his mother, responding the victim’s appealed for rescue through a social media video clip.

According to a Lodhran police spokesman, taking notice of the video clip posted by the victim, Tasleem Bibi on social media, District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Mumtaz ordered Kahrorepucca police for prompt action against the suspect.

The police conducted a raid on a premises at Chowki Masti and recovered the woman from illegal confinement.

According to police, the victim had gone to the house of her former husband, Akram, to meet her five children who after her divorce through a court lived with the suspect.

When she reached his house, the suspect, with the help of his brother Ramzan and her former mother-in-law Manzoor Mai, severely tortured her and locked her up in a room.

However, the victim managed to upload a video clip on social media through her mobile phone, appealing to police to rescue her.

The police arrested the three suspect and his two accomplice, including Manzoor Mai.

ARRESTED: Bahawalpur Saddar police claimed to have arrested a man who had allegedly murdered a young girl last month.

According to police sources, the police using mobile phone data and geofencing arrested the suspect, Allah Wadhia, who had allegedly killed Shazia Bano by hitting her with bricks after calling her to his house.

The police say the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertain as the suspect as being interrogated.

The police, after registration of murder case last month, had been trying to arrest the killer.

KISSAN CARD: Lodhran district administration has received farmers’ 22,516 applications for registration for chief minister’s Kissan Cards scheme at the three centres established for the purpose in Lodhran, kahroerpucca and Dunyapur.

According to Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rauf Mahar, after getting registered for the scheme, the eligible applicants have started receiving messages on their mobile phones for collection of their cards from the centres, where they had submitted their applications.

ROADS’ CONSTRUCTION: The Punjab government has allocated a sum of Rs170 million for the rehabilitation and construction of roads in Vehari district.

This was disclosed by DC Syecdd Assef Hussain, at meeting along with MPA Saqib Khursheed. They also visited a number of roads in city areas.

The DC ordered quality road construction work, saying the officials and contractors found responsible for poor work would be taken to task.
