FIA seeks record of eight schemes using Wapda’s name unlawfully

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sought provision of the record related to eight housing schemes that are using the name of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) unlawfully.

According to a letter written to the joint registrar (cooperative department), Lahore FIA Additional Director Kashif Mustafa Chaudhry informed the authorities about the ongoing probe on the allegations of unauthorised/illegal use of Wapda’s name, logo and insignia by the housing societies within the jurisdiction of Punjab cooperative department.

“Wapda filed an application through its director (legal) that the illegal operations of several housing societies, especially located in Punjab, using the name and logo of Wapda illegally without any authorisation,” reads the letter.

It seeks details of the schemes, including ‘Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing societies in Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura and Kasur and Wapda City schemes in Faisalabad and Gujaranwala.

“The matter may please be treated as most urgent so as to conclude the inquiry,” concludes the letter.
