500 dialysis kits donated to Hazro hospital

TAXILA: Member of the district monitoring committee and former provincial minister Jahangir Khanzada donated 500 dialysis kits worth Rs2 million for the treatment of kidney patients at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro on Saturday.

The hospital had been short of dialysis kits for two months, leaving patients in distress. The hospital’s budget and supply of kits had been exhausted, and funds from local purchases and Zakat had also run dry.

Addressing the handing-over ceremony, Jahangir Khanzada recalled that his father, the late Punjab minister for interior retired Col Shuja Khanzada, had previously arranged for the donation of dialysis machines to the hospital for the treatment of kidney patients through the support of NGOs a few years ago. .

Mr Khanzada said as hospitals faced paucity, some pharmacy owners were exploiting the situation by selling these kits at exorbitant rates, making them unaffordable for the poor patients of the area. He lauded the role of NGOs and philanthropists for their contribution in arranging medical equipment for the underprivileged patients in the area.

During his visit to the dialysis unit of the hospital, he urged the hospital management to ensure proper management of the dialysis machines to prevent unnecessary delay for patients.

He also inquired about the health of the patients undergoing dialysis.
