HEALTHCARE IN MARDAN

HEALTHCARE IN MARDAN: Patients in the areas of Mardan district have been suffering due to inadequate healthcare services. Private clinics are owned by une-ducated people who hand over their clinics to quacks. The quacks have no medical kno-wledge, and play with the lives of people by frequently prescribing wrong medicines. The quality of healthcare in Mardan is worrisome. The government should take immediate action to address the crisis.

DEFORESTATION: While the world is struggling with climate change, trees are being cut down in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in Swat and Buner regions. Swat is known for its cold weather patterns, but excessive deforestation will soon turn the climate of Swat upside down. Deforestation not only impacts the climate, but also affec-ts the ecosystem and wildlife. Therefore, strict action against timber mafia and those involved in the ongoing illegal activity must be taken by the authorities.

DIGITAL ANARCHY: This is with reference to the report ‘Anarchy is spread through social media: COAS Munir’ (Aug 8). I agree with the assertion that social media has been used to create anarchy in the country. Pakistan has hit rock bottom. Never in my life have I seen a bunch of brainwashed individuals acting like zombies. Pakistan needs to take a leaf out of China’s book and build its own search engines. This is by no means an easy task, but we must start somewhere.

OPPORTUNITY FOR REFORMS: The arrest of Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed has ignited a firestorm of discussion. Instituti-ons in Pakistan must seize this moment to reinforce their commitment to the separat-ion of powers and adherence to the rule of law. Moreover, the historical civil-military imbalance in Pakistan can only be corr-ected by upholding clear boundaries for each institution. Ensuring that no insti-tution oversteps its bounds is imperative.
