Dir traders get saplings

LOWER DIR: All shopkeepers in Timergara will plant two saplings each in front of their shops to increase the beauty of the bazaar.

The district administration here on Tuesday distributed saplings among shopkeepers under the provincial government’s plan of ‘one shop one plant’.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan and Assistant Commissioner Dr Nida Iqbal along with president of Lower Dir Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mian Noor Alam, president of Anjuman Tajiran Timergara Haji Anwaruddin and the assistant director of local government, Amir Nizam Durrani distributed free of cost saplings among the shopkeepers.

Similarly, the local administration and traders’ body distributed saplings among shopkeepers in Chakdara in Adenzai tehsil.

JUI-F: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl district chief Sirajud Din and general secretary Maulana Mohammad Huzaifa on Tuesday said that hundreds of party workers would participate in ‘Khatam-i-Nabowwat’ conference to be held at Minar-i-Pakistan ground in Lahore on September 7.

They told journalists that party had finalised preparations to make the event a success. They said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders would address the event.

They said that the conference would set a new direction for the country’s politics.

Meanwhile, district president of Aalami Majlis Khatam-i-Nabowwat Maulana Haji Mohammad said that his workers would also participate in the event.

MEETING: Timergara tehsil chairman Mufti Irfanud Din chaired an informal meeting of the council at his office here the other day.

The council members attended the meeting and expressed anger over what they called failure of government to provide powers and funds to them. They said that provincial government was least interested in empowering local bodies.

DRIVE: The elementary and secondary education department on Tuesday kicked off enrollment drive in Timergara.

The district education officer, Inayatullah Khan, said on the occasion that so far 10,000 out of school children were enrolled in the district.
