Pindi reports first death of season from dengue

RAWALPINDI: The first death from dengue virus in the current season was reported in the district of Rawalpindi while 14 suspected patients landed in government hospitals on Thursday. 

According to officials, a four-year-old girl from Kallar Syedan was brought to Fauji Foundation Hospital last week where she died.

A senior official of the health authority said they had been informed by the hospital that the child had died of dengue.

A total of 122 people have been affected by the dengue virus in the current season in Rawalpindi and 96 of them have been discharged from hospitals after treatment.

At present, 35 suspected patients are admitted to Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital. As many as 25 of them are confirmed dengue patients while the dengue serology reports of the 10 others patients are awaited.

Mostly patients on Thursday arrived from Satellite Town, Gulistan Colony, Soan Adda near Bahria Town, Samanzar, Shakrial, Yousaf Colony, Chak Jalaldin, Girja, Bostan Khan Road, Peshawar Road, Dhoke Syedan and adjoining areas.
