Swabi boy dies after being hit by cricket ball
SWABI: A sharp bouncer in a cricket match resulted in death of a ninth grade student here on Thursday.
His family members and police officials said that Mahaz Khan was playing cricket with friends in Doubian village when a bowler of the rival team bowled a sharp bouncer, hitting him in the head. He was immediately rushed to a local medical facility where he succumbed to his injury.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist identified as Javid Khan was killed after being hit by a tractor trolley in Chota Lahor area on Swabi-Jehangira road. A 23-year-old Saqib Khan was killed in firing on a car over a monetary dispute in Baja village.
Also in the day, a 17-year-old youngster Shah Sawar Khan died on the spot while 22-year-old Zeeshan was critically injured in firing in Topi Shago Jamaat area.
The police stations concerned registered separate cases and started investigation.
SUSPECT ‘KILLED’ IN ENCOUNTER: The man who allegedly killed the Tarakai House’s watchman was shot dead by police in an armed encounter, claimed a police spokesperson.
Tarakai House belongs to incumbent MNA Shahram Khan Tarakai, KP Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai and MPA Mustafa Khan Tarakai, leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
Ramzan Chaudhry, spokesperson of the house told Dawn that two persons had tried to barge into the houses who were intercepted by the watchman Gul Nawaz Khan. He said one of them identified as Munir Khan opened fire, killing the watchman on the spot.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan police station. A police party immediately started chasing the accused Munir Khan and shot him dead in an armed encounter, police official added.
