RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has told the nation today [Sept 6] that the Armed forces of Pakistan are today better placed to man the physical defences of the country than they were at any time since the birth of Pakistan. In a message on Defence Day of Pakistan he said: “We are also trying to enlist the support of the entire nation in the task of defending our country against external aggression.”

Reminding the people of the changing nature of the dangers to which they were exposed, the Prime Minister said: “The defence spectrum is now much broader and the dangers more pervasive. Among these dangers are subversion directed from abroad, extreme forms of regionalism propagated by political groups within the country and militant sectarian groups operating to the detriment of our national defence.” He invited the people to resolve on this day to mobilise all their resources to defend their independence, ideology and integrity. The Prime Minister also paid homage to the martyrs of the 1965 war.
