GUJAR KHAN: Three boys drowned in a water pond near Mangla area of Jhelum district. According to the Jhelum police sources, three minor boys went missing from Maddo Kaalis village of police station Mangla and an FIR was registered in the police station during Friday night.

On Saturday morning, their bodies were found in the water pond in the vicinity of Maddo Kaalis and it was believed that they had drowned in the water pond. The Rescue 1122 divers were called in and their bodies were retrieved, the police said.

The Mangla police confirmed their identities as Shahzeb Ahmed, 14; Afaaq Ahmed, 12, and Mohammad Abdullah, 12. The police are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, indiscriminate and fierce firing at a marriage party in Luss village in the jurisdiction of Qazian police post of PS Gujar Khan took the life of an 8-year-old child while a 7-year-old girl was seriously wounded.

According to the police sources, participants of a marriage party resorted to aerial firing and the bullets hit two children.

The injured children were identified as Mohammad Issa s/o Chaudhry Yasir and Nimra Shahzadi d/o Shahzad.

Mohammad Issa could not survive and breathed his last on the way to the hospital while Nimra was admitted to THQ Gujar Khan.

It is pertinent to mention that intense firing at marriages and traditional shows in the jurisdiction of Qazian police police post are a common source of jubilence and the police seldom take notice of such criminal fanfare.
