Five more held in food poisoning case

TAXILA: Police in Pindigheb town on Saturday took into custody five more employees of a food point after the mother of the two minor boys also died allegedly due to food poisoning.

Memona Yaqub, mother of two, was a teacher in a government school.

According to the first investigation report registered with Pindigheb police station, Mohammad Ikram, a native of Dhoke Jutt, Gharibwal, reported to the police that he purchased fried chicken from a food point and took it home. After consuming it, his family fell ill and were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. One of his sons Abdul Ahad passed away in the hospital while the other Abdul Sammad died on the way to a hospital in Rawalpindi. His wife, who remained on a ventilator in the Rawalpindi hospital, for two days also died on Friday.

Investigation officer ASI Mohammad Shahzad stated that six workers of the food point, including its owner, had been taken into custody for investigation.
