QWP leader laid to rest in Swabi

SWABI: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Saturday that it would take several years to fill the gap created by the passing away of the party’s veteran leader Mohammad Jamil advocate.

Mr Jamil passed away the other day and he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard at Marghuz village.

His funeral was attended by Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Minister for Irrigation Aqibullah Khan, Mardan City Mayor Himatullah Mayar, Tehsil Swabi Chairman Attaullah, ANP leader Salim Khan advocate, former senator Haji Ghufran and a large number of local people.

Mr Sherpao said that the deceased had fought the battle for the restoration of democracy and the rights of Pakhtuns during the regimes of general Ayub Khan and general Zia-ul-Haq.

PUBLIC FUNDS’ MISUSE: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Khanzada Shah Nawaz Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had robbed the provincial treasury by using state’s resources for public meetings of the party.

Speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ programme of Swabi Press Club, he alleged that municipal employees were assigned the task of making preparations for the party’s Islamabad rally which was scheduled to be held on Sunday (today).

Flanked by other leaders of the party, he said that the imposition of PTI government on KP was a great injustice to the people of the province.

He said that it was the responsibility of the government to restore peace in war-hit areas of the province and adopt a practical policy to rescue province from the economic quagmire.
