Boy’s body recovered after two days in Dir

LOWER DIR: Body of an 11-year-old Zakreya son of Dilawar Khan of Wara Banda was recovered from Panjkora River at Zulam spot after two days of hectic efforts here on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 divers, volunteers of the Al-Khidmat Foundation and the civil defence continued the search for the second consecutive day. The boy was drowned in the river while taking a bath in Mian Banda area the other day.

The body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital Timergara and then handed over to the deceased’s family.

Talking to local journalists, a social worker Ibrash Pasha said that so far 22 teenagers had drowned in the Panjkora River during the last two months.

STATUTES APPROVED: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor approved the new service statutes of the University of Malakand (UoM).

In a statement issued by the university’s PRO, the higher education department issued a letter to the varsity’s registrar regarding the approval of the new statutes. The varsity’s syndicate and senate, according to the release, had already approved the new statutes as per the HEC directives.

The UoM Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad congratulated the varsity’s staff, professors and students and vowed that the new statutes would further enhance quality of education.
