Elder’s son killed, five injured in Waziristan blast

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A man was killed while his father narrowly escaped and four others suffered injuries in a remote-controlled roadside bomb which exploded near Kari Kot Bazaar in Wana tehsil on Sunday.

The miscreants targeted vehicle of tribal elder Jameel Wazir, who narrowly escaped the blast while his son Shamsuddin Wazir, succumbed to his injuries in hospital while four other inmates sustained injuries.

Additional SHO Irshad Wazir confirmed the incident, saying all the injured had been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana.

Police said the injured included Malik Jameel, Malik Abdur Rashid, Mohammad ullah, and Gul Zada and Shamsuddin Wazir.

In another incident, a man namely Ismail was killed in firing in Wana Rustam bazaar over a personal enmity.

Leaders of various political parties in Wana strongly condemned the incident and expressed deep concern over the killing.

They demanded that the federal and provincial governments should take immediate steps to establish peace in the district.
