Chitral expo to attract traders

CHITRAL: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will hold a two-day extravaganza of trade activities in Chitral which is likely to attract leading traders and people from different parts of the country and abroad.

As per a press statement issued on Tuesday, the event is being named as Chitral Expo, which is aimed at exploring the rich and untapped trade potential of the district in collaboration with Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCC&I).

On the second day of the event on September 15, ‘fourth economic development conference’ will be held in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade in which potential of trade will be discussed with minute details with strategies to realise it.

The office-bearers of CCC&I have, meanwhile, started their preparations to make the expo a success.

FIRE: The central part of Chitral city evaded a disaster by a hair’s breadth here on Tuesday morning when a mini oil tanker parked on the premises of a petrol pump on bypass road caught fire and its flames started to engulf the central part of the building.

Police rushed to the spot and started to contain the propagation of flames while Rescue 1122 joined them with their fire extinguishing machines and staff coupled with tens of volunteers.

The fire was extinguished after strenuous efforts just before it reached the main under-ground tank stored with thousands of litres of petrol, which would have exploded causing devastations on large scale. DSP Tameezud Din told Dawn that it was a matter of a few minutes when the fire fighters controlled it.

He appreciated them for their valour and courage for making their all-out efforts at the very risk of their lives to save the city from a major catastrophe.
