Shopkeeper sexually assaults minor girl

BAHAWALPUR: A shopkeeper allegedly raped a minor girl in his shop at Basti Dahena in Sandhiwala village in the limits of Lodhran city police station on Wednesday.

According to an FIR registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, the eight-year-old girl went to purchase sweets from a shop in the locality. The shopkeeper put the shutter down and raped the girl.

After hearing the rape victim’s screams, the area people rushed to the spot and overpowered the suspect. Later, they handed him over to police.

The rape victim was sent to the DHQ Hospital for a medical examination.

KILLS SISTER: A man along with his nephew allegedly shot dead his married sister in the name of honour at village 285/EB in the limits of Gaggo police station in Vehari district on Tuesday night.

According to police, Amjad suspected that his sister Dilshad Bibi (a mother of three sons) had relations with a man ‘A’. He along with his nephew, Zafar, locked her in a room and shot her dead.

On receipt of information, a police team rushed to the scene and arrested Amjad, while his accomplice managed to escape from the scene.

The police sent the body to the Gaggo THQ Hospital for a postmortem examination.

KISSAN CARDS: Distribution of Kissan cards among successful applicants started here on Wednesday.

Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar inaugurated the cards distribution at a ceremony held under the auspices of the Agriculture Department.

On the occasion, the deputy speaker, Bahawalpur division director agriculture Hafiz Jamil Ghauri and deputy director agriculture Hafiz Shafiq said distribution desks for Kissan cards had been established in the offices of the agriculture department across the division from where farmers could collect their cards.

ARRESTED: Kahror Pacca and Lodhran Saddar police claim to have arrested drug traffickers Imran and Aamir Darkhan and recovered over 10kg charas from their possession on Wednesday.
